Fully-Funded Scholarships Bangladeshi Students Should Target in 2026

NextCampus Editorial Team 2 July 2026 7 min read

Chevening, Commonwealth, Erasmus Mundus and more โ€” the major fully-funded scholarships open to Bangladeshi students, with timelines and honest advice on your chances.

Every year, Bangladeshi students win scholarships that cover full tuition, flights and a living stipend โ€” and every year, thousands more miss out simply because they started too late or applied carelessly. Here are the major fully-funded schemes worth your effort in 2026, and how to approach them.

Chevening Scholarships (United Kingdom)

The UK government's flagship award funds a one-year master's degree in any subject: full tuition, monthly stipend, flights and visa costs. Bangladesh receives a healthy allocation each cycle.

  • Requirements: a bachelor's degree, at least two years of work experience, and demonstrated leadership
  • Applications open in August and close in early November for the following year
  • Our advice: the four essays decide everything โ€” start drafting in June

Commonwealth Scholarships (United Kingdom)

Aimed at development-related master's and PhD study, Commonwealth Scholarships fully fund tuition, living costs and airfare. Unlike Chevening, fresh graduates can apply โ€” strong academic results matter more than work experience. Applications typically run from September to October through the national nominating agency.

Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (European Union)

Perhaps the most underrated option for Bangladeshi students. You study in two or three European countries within one programme, with tuition waived and a monthly stipend of around โ‚ฌ1,400. Each programme selects its own scholars, and you may apply to multiple programmes per cycle.

  • Applications open Octoberโ€“January for the following autumn
  • Selection is heavily academic: CGPA, motivation letter and references
  • No application fee for most programmes โ€” there is no reason not to try

Australia Awards (Australia)

Fully funded by the Australian government for study in development-priority fields, covering tuition, living expenses, flights and health cover. Bangladesh is a participating country, with applications generally open February to April. Public-sector and NGO experience strengthens your case considerably.

Chinese Government Scholarship โ€” CSC (China)

The most numerically generous scheme available to Bangladeshis: full tuition, university hostel and a monthly stipend across hundreds of universities. Apply through the Chinese embassy track or directly to universities between November and April. Postgraduate applicants who secure a professor's acceptance letter in advance enjoy a decisive advantage.

University Merit Scholarships โ€” Do Not Overlook Them

Beyond government schemes, our partner universities award automatic merit scholarships of 20โ€“100% of tuition. Finnish universities in particular grant 50% waivers widely, and several UK universities offer ยฃ3,000โ€“ยฃ6,000 country awards specifically for Bangladeshi students.

How to Actually Win

  • Start twelve months before your intended intake โ€” every major deadline falls early
  • Perfect one master document set: transcripts, references, CV and a strong personal statement
  • Apply to several schemes; the marginal effort per extra application is small
  • Be honest about fit โ€” a 3.2 CGPA with strong leadership suits Chevening better than Erasmus Mundus
